Special Projects
We make time to explore ideas and areas that interest us. They may not have any direct bearing on our professional work, but we feel better people for it. And it's all ammunition for the Digital Spoke think tank.
War on Terror, the boardgame
The team behind Digital Spoke have also setup a boardgame publishing company and launched their first product, War on Terror, the boardgame in November 2006.
We're All Neighbours
Launched in June 2003, We're All Neighbours is our own Cambridge Community project. We're trying to build a useful online Cambridge resource, focussing on Cambridge events, a market system and a bulletin board. It's an open publishing system at heart, allowing user the freedom to communicate and organise with each other. There's more information on the website itself. The organisation and continued upkeep of We're All Neighbours has since been passed onto the active community.
This or That?
Our first nihilist website! Built in an evening; lasts forever. This is a prime example of lo-fi stupidity (the page size comes in at 1k) yet it echoes life in an uncanny way - tortuous, pointless but full of hidden depths. Maybe.
Etch-a-Sketch communication
Global communication through the medium of Etch 'a' Sketch! Our first stand alone Flash application. An online version of the classic Etch 'a' Sketch. Uses Flash / Actionscript for the main drawing engine and then a mixture of PHP, XML and MySQL to allow the users to save the images from Flash into a web based gallery (and send them as postcards). Requires the Flash 5 Player.
Flash Silliness
Playing with dynamic generation of images reacting to the users input, which required building a physics engine within Flash Actionscript which we've now used on commercial projects. Plus some experiments using Flash to produce mathematical-based patterns and movement. Requires the Flash 5 Player.
