About Digital Spoke

Founded in 2002, Digital Spoke is a small network of creative individuals. At the hub is the director of Digital Spoke, Andrew Sheerin. Andrew has spent 12 years working in the Internet industry and has spent the past 6 co-directing his own board games publishing business. Across these two companies and over the years, Andrew has built up the skills and the contacts to deliver outstanding, quality work across the creative spectrum to fit almost any client.

About Us

Andrew Sheerin "Us" is me, Andrew Sheerin + a pool of freelancers and other companies that I draw upon as-and-when a project requires it. I don't mind admitting that I prefer creative work to managing people and so I will undertake 100% of every project if possible. The downside of this way of working means that my time gets booked up very quickly and I have to be selective about what work I take on. However, because I am involved so closely with each project, I take great pride and satisfaction in my work. From your perspective, you get the ease and flexibility of dealing with an individual, the benefit of my considerable experience and my full attention to your project - but none of the added costs of 3rd party out-sourcing.

Credentials

It reassures some people to learn that I have a first-class degree from the University of Leeds, although it's not until I tell them that it's a BA joint hons in English & German that they understand it really is as irrelevant as I say it is. Of far more importance is the practical experience I've gained over the years - product design, marketing & e-marketing, advertising, exhibiting ... I've done it all from both the customer and supplier side of things.

I've also taught what I know. Education is a big part of what Digital Spoke is about and the years spent teaching internet-related subjects at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge were very fulfilling. My speciality was Writing for the Web, but I designed and ran modules in Web Design and E-marketing too. ARU were unaware of concepts like web accessibility before I arrived and were teaching fairly out-dated practices, so during my time there, I volunteered on the course design steering committee and was a driving force in bringing their web-related modules up-to-date.

Before striking out alone, my internet career involved working at a mixture of dot-com start-ups and "new media" companies in London, where I'd pull all-nighters, lived half my life in the office and knew all the pizza delivery guys by name. I then experienced an altogether different working environment when I moved to Bradford to manage the website of the Yorkshire Building Society.

But that was many years ago now. In 2004, I took over the running of Digital Spoke and moved to Cambridge, where I am now happily settled with my wife, Jennifer, and an assortment of farm animals.

So there you have it - more than you asked for and more than you'll ever need to know about me. The important stuff is available for you to see on the web, graphic and branding portfolio pages of this site.

I would highly recommend Digital Spoke to anyone who requires a website which not only looks good and works well, but is tailored to their individual needs and enhances their business in the best way possible.
